At Water Nippers Swimming, we hope to give children the experience and skills they need to be able to enjoy being in the water, whilst always staying safe. We have taught many hundreds of children to swim over the years, and we often wonder what our budding swimmers get up to once they outgrow our pools.
Recently we were lucky enough to hear from one such ex water nipper. Arabella attended swimming lessons at the Trinity Hydro Pool in Wandsworth, with Adrian, one of our highly experienced teachers. Her parents have written to us to let us know how much they appreciated ‘Adrian’s skills and efforts in making the courses such an enjoyable and rewarding experience’.
To top it all off, Arabella’s time at Water Nippers has enabled her to join one of the junior competitive swimming squads at the Chelsea & Westminster Swimming Club. Not only was she selected, but she has gone on to win a bronze medal for crawl and silver medal for backstroke in her first competitive gala for the club. This is an absolutely amazing achievement for a 5-year-old, competing for the first time against club members from across London. As you can see from the picture, she is a very pleased little girl and we couldn’t be prouder of her. We all wish her the best in her future swimming career, watch this space, she could be winning medals for Great Britain at the Olympic games one day.
We cannot promise that your little one will win medals but we will do our best to ensure they enjoy their lessons with Water Nippers and take away with them an essential life skill. Being able to swim will keep them safe in the water and give them the tools to keep themselves fit throughout their life.
We may have had the occasional sunny day, but with the unpredictability of the British weather, many of us have started thinking about booking our summer holidays. We daydream about the warmth of the sun on our backs, and relaxing by the pool with a good book. The reality once you have children may be slightly more chaotic and while you may not be able the curb the excitement your little one may be expressing loudly in very public places, you can do something about making sure your child is safe around water.
You want them to enjoy the pool but you also need them to be safe, safety is paramount. Whether you have a cautious child who hasn’t managed to get past a fear of the water, or a courageous child who thinks they are invisible but just lacks the relevant skills, water nippers swimming can help. Now is exactly the right time to book your child in for swimming lessons in one of our lovely warm pools in or around London. From complete beginners, to toddlers that have already completed a baby swimming course, we have classes to suit all your needs.
We all know that what makes us parents happy, is seeing our children happy and that will make all the difference to your holiday. We want you to enjoy your holiday, safe in the knowledge that your little one will not only enjoy being in the water but will be able to enjoy it safely. Contact us now to book swimming lessons for your toddlers and children in our London pools, the Trinity Hydro Pool in Wandsworth, the Wimbledon Hydro Pool and the Holiday Inn in Sutton. We also teach babies, toddlers and children in our pools outside of London, in Isfield, Loxwood and Seaford.
There are lots of exciting things going on at Water Nippers that we wanted to share with both our existing and future customers. We are sure all our little swimmers who learn under the capable watch of our experienced teacher Adrian, at the Wimbledon Hydro Pool or Trinity Hydro Pool, will want to congratulate him on passing his most recent Level 2 ASA qualification. We love that our teachers are constantly striving to improve and learn more so that they can use their new knowledge to help their classes. Well done Adrian, we are very proud of you!
We also have a new teacher Sarah, on Tuesdays and Fridays at Wimbledon. Sarah has nearly 20 years teaching experience and is looking forward to meeting more of you. We would like to welcome her to the Water Nippers team, we know that she will be a valued member.
In the office, we are having a bit of a makeover with a fresh paint job, a much needed declutter and new desks, to encourage our staff, and promote a happy and healthy working environment. The number of classes we run has grown over the years and we now have a huge number of children learning to swim with us. We felt it was time we upgraded to a more efficient database to help us manage the increased number of children. The new database is now fully up and running and we are sure this will make life easier for us all. We are very excited about this change, but at present we are all learning how it works and how it can help us, so please bear with us over the next month or so. The new database will make the process of booking, and paying for lessons much quicker. You can pay online and will receive a receipt automatically or you can pay via BACSs or by card (by calling the office). Once your payment has cleared the database will issue you a receipt so there will be no confusion over whether your swimming lessons have been paid for.
We want to thank you for all your support, we feel very privileged that you have chosen Water Nippers to teach your little ones to swim, a life skill that we feel every child needs, to make them safe in and around water.
We are nearing the end of November so I feel it is time to mention the C word. Yes Christmas is on its way and with that comes those questions from family members of what to buy the children for Christmas. It’s so lovely to hear great feedback from parents about their children’s progress with Water Nippers swimming lessons. We received such a wonderful email from Hayley in West Sussex that we thought we’d share it with you:ir-leasing.ru
“I just wanted to give you all some feedback regarding one of your swimming teachers, Debbie, who teaches my son at Lily Meadows. Debbie has been utterly fantastic and I thought you would appreciate hearing about her.
When my son first joined Water Nippers he hated the idea of getting into the water. To be honest, I think it took three weeks before he would even enter the pool. Debbie was extremely patient and I’m thrilled to say that now, less than three months on, Tom is an entirely different child; it’s now a challenge getting him out of the water! He loves it and is very, very close to actually swimming by himself without a float aid.
We really appreciate all of Debbie’s excellent ideas in the water to get Tom’s confidence as well as swimming ability up to where it is now and can’t thank her enough. She really is an excellent teacher.
Thank you also to you all at Water Nippers as I’ve often found myself ringing up to rearrange swim lessons. Having such flexibility is fantastic – what with school activities and outings. Nothing is ever simple!
We would highly recommend Water Nippers to anyone with young or older children. Our two love it. The length of the lessons is perfect and the venue lovely – especially the warm water, that’s a real bonus as even I find the public pools far too cold for me, let alone young children!”
Swimming lessons are the perfect activity for rainy winter days when you can’t go out in the garden or park. Kids get to expend their boundless energy, get a good work out and learn about water safety too!
However as the days get shorter, colder and wetter it can be hard to keep up the motivation. Here are our five top tips:
- Bring a hat or hooded top for after the swimming lesson to keep them warm.
- Get a hooded towel or poncho style towel – this makes getting changed so much easier and helps keep little ones warm while you get changed too.
- Bring a small changing mat to stand on – you can buy swimming changing mats for kids so their feet don’t get cold and wet when you’re getting changed. It makes getting shoes and socks/tights a bit easier too!
- Bring plenty of healthy snacks for after swimming.
- Drink up! Even though it’s colder, it’s still important for children to have a good drink of water after a swimming lesson. They have been working hard!
